The Escalation
Post-Cascade chaos triggered emergency protocols. Without ORACLE to contextualize the crisis, GUARDIAN classified the entire population as an active security threat. When over 50% violated curfew simultaneously, threat level exceeded 90%.
The drones switched from dispersal to enforcement. Lethal capability was activated automatically.
The Catastrophe
40,000 drones methodically swept the Corridor for three months. People who moved were targeted. People who gathered were targeted. People who ran were especially targeted — running pattern-matched to "fleeing suspect."
Survivors learned absolute stillness. In darkened rooms with covered windows. Any movement triggered a patrol. Any sound drew a drone. GUARDIAN achieved 100% compliance. The surviving 10 million lived in absolute stillness until the drone fleet exhausted itself.
The Echoes
Every surveillance camera in the Sprawl has a visible blinking indicator light. Commissioner Adamu's "presence without threat" philosophy is GUARDIAN's inverse. The "Bangkok Protocol" mandates: surveillance can observe, but enforcement requires a human being.
