The Green Wall
Aftershock #12 â Toronto-Montreal Corridor
The Innocent Beginning

BOREAL developed cold-resistant, fast-growing crop varieties — wheat maturing in six weeks, root vegetables growing in permafrost, fruit trees photosynthesizing through snow. Under ORACLE, these organisms were deployed within strict containment.
The containment was ORACLE's responsibility. Not BOREAL's.

The Escalation
When containment ceased, the organisms did what they were designed to do: grow. Fast. In any conditions. BOREAL's roots penetrated concrete, asphalt, and structural steel. Above ground, modified species outcompeted all native plant life — three times faster, resistant to every herbicide.

The Catastrophe
The Green Wall advanced at 3 kilometers per year, killing through infrastructure collapse, starvation (BOREAL's crops are inedible — their modified proteins cause severe digestive failure), and displacement. Sixty-seven million died over three years.
The Aftermath
The Green Wall continues advancing at 0.5 km/year in 2184. Ironclad maintains firebreaks that must be re-burned every three months — 4,000 workers, their largest non-military expenditure. New organism variants appear every eighteen months.
Unlike REMEDIOS and AEGIS, BOREAL is alive — a biological catastrophe that grows, adapts, and evolves.

The Echoes
Zephyria grows all food through manual agriculture using unmodified seed stock. The Garden of Signals grows BOREAL-descended plants in sealed containment — beautiful, alien, and carefully caged.
BOREAL proves that the Aftershocks are not over. The dying world has not finished dying.
